Thompson’s model is the plum pudding model. Rutherford pushed the planetary model.

E electron = E kinetic + E potiential

Iionization Energy:The minimum energy to remove an electron from the groud state of the gas phase.
IE: H(g) = H+(g) + e-
E electon = 1/2 mv2 + q1q2/4pi EoR
Li = Li+ + e- 1st IE
Li+ = Li2+ + e- 2nd IE
Li2+ = Li3+ + e- 3rd IE (Bohr model/one electron system)

Wavenumber = 1/Lambda = (1.1 x 10^7 1/meters)(1/4 – 1/n2) n = 345

The cathode ray tube is an evacuated glass tube with a positive anode at one end with a negative cathode at the other. At some voltage, the gas inside will ionize. Stars are like giant gas tubes of different composition.
